If you are a believer in the finished work of Jesus you have been sealed with God’s Holy Spirit of promise and you’ve been made to be a new creature. You’ve been given a new heart and a new spirit. This new heart is no longer wicked and deceitful, it’s encoded with God’s Word. It’s now natural for you to follow God.
Ezekiel 36:25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
What’s left for us now is to follow God with our whole heart, renew our minds and apply the Word of God in our lives as we walk out our ministry of reconciliation toward the world.
Wisdom is a key factor in doing and saying what the Lord is leading us to do. Grace will always be abundantly available to empower us but we need wisdom to navigate this world. Wisdom is from God to help us apply the principles we’ve learned from the Word and the Holy Spirit. God is constant, his wisdom is unchanging but this life is full of variables. Wisdom is how God helps us walk out his promises and blessing. Wisdom is the promise from God that we’ll know what to do in every situation.
Wisdom is the practical application of knowledge.
How does one become wise you might ask? Do the Word
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
The Word is our mirror, we’re to look into it to see what we look like. We look at our past to determine what we look like, we look to our relationships, we look to our bank account…we look to too many things other than the word to tell us who we are. As we have our minds renewed and are experiencing transformation from the inside out, we can do the Word and be blessed as we go. This is not saying that if we perform properly we’ll earn blessing. We’re under the New Covenant, it doesn’t work that way. What this is saying is blessing awaits, we simply need to apply truth to see spiritual promises manifest in this life. Doing the Word prepares our hearts and the world around us to yield spiritual fruit and blessing.
We can’t abandon the wisdom of God as we live a spirit led life. While you keep your heart open to God, continue to apply wisdom as revealed in God’s Word. Let’s be people of character and integrity as we expect spiritual life to manifest.

WALKING IN WISDOM
Read a chapter of Proverbs each day. Write down the passages that stand out to you and seek to put them into practice. After you’ve read through the entire book after about a month, look back at all of them and notice any patterns. From these patterns you may develop plans and strategies that will help you stay on course throughout your life.
– Be diligent to do the Word and you will be blessed as you go
– Acknowledge God and you be led
– Apply the Word and you will be blessed
